Like I deserved it.

Touching you I start to bloom."

Eye in the sky.

"3rd Planet" by Modest Mouse.

"Well, a third had just been made and we were swimming in the water
Didn't know then, was it a son, was it a daughter
When it occurred to me that the animals are swimming
Around in the water in the oceans in our bodies
And another had been found, another ocean on the planet
Given that our blood is just like the Atlantic"

Such weird lyrics. Love it. On repeat.

Cold Campbells from the can.

I just rediscovered this song.
The lyrics are just sound brilliant to me. And her voice. And the piano. I swear, she's magical.

Happy days. Everything.
What's so great, I think, is that not only are these days in the present so awesome, but I have so much to look forward to in the near future as well.

In the past week, I have been feeling especially artsy. Been drawing quite a bit. Bought some new colored pencils. I like it. New mediums.

B-U-D-D-Y.

Found this song on my itunes a while back. So beautiful.

I've also been listening to this song for a few weeks now...and just today I realized its about penis...or maybe sperm? Possibly sex or masturbation? Wikipedia says "Buddy" means "Body." Whatever it is, it's inappropriate. And I like it.

Scenic World.

It seriously is all about this song. All about Beirut. So good.
If you like this, I also suggest "Elephant Gun" and "Nantes"
Its just a unique sound to me. All the instruments and his voice and the lyrics. It's honest.

Postcards from Italy.

Somethin' about this song. Shown to me this morning by a friend.

Like when the trumpet comes in. It reminds me of adventures in summer, on top of a train or something. It gives off this certain thrill.

At about 2:02, thats my fav. When there's the trumpet solo, and then he comes in with that real beautiful last verse. Love it.

I love solos in songs. Trumpets, drums, guitars, violins. You name it. I love it.

Truly Madly Deeply.

I will forever love Ray LaMontagne. I mean, his guitar, his raspy voice, his harmonica. If he wasn't like 30 years older than me, I would put him in the running for my potential husband.

"Music is a moral law: it gives wings to the mind, a soul to the universe, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness -- a life to everything." -Plato

So for the past four days straight, I have done nothing but homework. It's been kind of fun. Not too exhilarating, however, I have come to some conclusions about homework, and other things that are not too pleasing to do.
Here it is: You just gotta do it.
I mean, when I came to Portland, I came to go to school, knowing that it wasn't always gonna be easy. So instead of dwelling on all the work I have in front of me, I might as well just do it. And feel good about it when it's done. For goodness sake, I like school. I should want good grades. I sort of forgot about that this term. But better late than never to remember.

Also, I've been like super content and happy lately. Kind of random? But good. I think that I just feel real balanced. Like things are good in several aspects of my life. Plus, I have like the best friends ever. Whether its back home or in Portland, they're all awesome. And even though school is stressful, Im finally motivated to get stuff done. And summer is so close I can taste it. And home is just a plane ride away. New apartment. Volunteering. Guitar lessons.

Sweet, sweet freedom.

OMSI

Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.
Seriously, my mother ship.
Today I interviewed to be a volunteer for this summer program called Rising Stars where I will mentor young adults on how to be awesome leaders.
AND I GOT IT.
Holler!
And then after the interview they gave me a free pass to look at the museum. I literally spent like two hours in there by myself. It's fantastic. If you ever come to Portland, go to OMSI.

According to my calculations, in just today, I gained like 50 million points in the category of being a nerd.

Also, the sun finally came out today, and it was BEAUTIFUL! Hallelujah!

Im a happy kid, despite all the ass loads of homework I am about to endure.

Also, this song is spectacular. I am obsessed with the Black Keys at the moment. They get me in my summer, rocky, bluesy, feel. Ya dig?

Infinite Arms.

Band of Horses' new album "Infinite Arms" is SOOOO GOOD!
I just happened to be in Starbucks and one of their songs came on, and so I looked it up, and it brought me to the Band of Horses website where I listened to the entire album...and it is just beautiful!
I am now currently obsessed with the song "Blue Beard"
I just want to make out with someone to that song.

Anyways.
I have been in Starbucks for the past 2 hours. And am determined to stay here for 4 more hours until I have to go to work. Because I have to write this paper.
What else is new?
Same shit, different day.
Geez.

But only 2 more weeks of school. Then finals. Then SUMMMERRRR.
I have been awaiting thee for far too long.

Funny thing is though, it is still raining a dreadful amount in Portland. Even though it is the end of May. Good god. Someone just put a stop to this already.

Because of my great lack of sleep in the past week. My body is only surviving off of massive amounts of iced coffee. I have been neglecting my teas. But they just don't provide for me the caffeine that is so necessary at the time.

I promise, iced-venti-five-splenda-no-classic-green-tea, I will return to you soon. Know that I love you, and miss you so. Especially the cold condensation that you leave on my hands, and the refreshing feeling you leave in my throat.
Love, Hannah

Necessity.

Music is so much more than I could ever explain it to be.
It makes me feel. And move. And think.
It's like motion in the air. Forcing you to move along with it.
Sometimes it is dense, and sometimes light, and sometimes somewhere in between that.
It can switch a mood, in the room or within yourself, with just the push of a button.
Music, to me, makes everything better.
I wish I could have someone following me around playing songs that go along with whatever I am doing, matching my mood and my thoughts and actions.

I can't think of any activity or time of day that I wouldn't want to be listening to music. From the moment I wake up, to the moment I fall asleep, a song is being played.
Maybe its because I can't really stand the silence. But it's also because I love the emotions, and the memories that songs bring out.
The excitement over a discovery of a new song.
The picking out of every instrument a band uses.
The difference between recorded and live versions.
I can't get enough.

I also feel that every genre of music has something to give. You shouldn't be shut off from a song just because it's titled "country" or "punk"
They all got a lil' somethin somethin.

The feeling of being at a concert and having the music surround you so you can feel it vibrating into your veins. The energy and the excitement. The movement of the crowd. The hands moving with the beat.

I don't even know what it is that draws people to music in such a way. It's magic or something.
But what I do know is that it's beautiful, and to me, a necessity.

my life be like.

These people know what the fuck is up.

"The joy of new birth and the pain of growing up.
The bliss between giving my all and giving up."

Also this one:

"The enemy is really myself
The enemy is what really need help
Somebody help"

Ohh Ray.

He just rips my heart out every time!

ALSO: Joni Mitchell? Hello.

"You are like holy wine,
so bitter and so sweet.
I could drink a case of you,
And I'd still be on my feet."

Cunninlynguist is so good to me right now.
This song hits me.
